Birthdays are amazing. I love celebrating them as much as the next person. As I get older, celebrations take on a different look. Enter March Gladness. I realize that I, like many other women, have placed the needs of everyone else before my own. So much so, that it becomes routine, and we neglect ourselves more often than we care to admit. And, some of us have the stress and high blood pressure to show for it. During this trip around the sun, that changes. My prayer, my goal is to love me enough to prioritize my needs.
March Gladness is my intentional journey through the month of March to bring some joy in my life. Big or small, expensive or free, with family and friends or alone, each day will include some level of joy intended for me. If that joy spreads to those closest to me, great. Whether it is trying a new restaurant, traveling, spa day or just quiet time, I will enjoy whatever the day brings my way. I will enjoy it while reminding myself that I am deserving of it all. I do not need permission to be kind to me.
I encourage you to celebrate you! You do not have to wait for your birthday or any other special occasion. Celebrate just because. There is enough March Gladness to share with everyone. Your playoff bracket should include you as the number one seed. Allow the odds to always be in your favor. Ask the coach to put you in the game. Loving you does not mean ignoring others or withholding love. It simply means including yourself in the equation whether it is loving yourself out loud or loving yourself quietly.
With Love,
Angela
